Rodarius Marcell Green[2] was born on 27 August 1998. He is well-known as Rod Wave and a singer. His strong voice and fusion of hip-hop and R&B is what has made him a pioneer in soul-trap. The track from 2019 "Heart on Ice" became viral on YouTube, TikTok, and reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wave's first album Ghetto Gospel (1999) reached number 10 on US Billboard 200. [8] Wave's second album called Prayer 4 Love (2020), placed at the top of the Billboard 200.[9The album also contained the smash hit "Rags2Riches" which peaked at number 12 in the Hot 100. The third album, SoulFly (2021), came out at number one on the Billboard 200 (marking his first chart-topping album). Wave's professional work began in 2016 with the release of his mixtape Hunger Games Vol.1. Wave released numerous mixtapes prior joining Alamo Records. His mixtape PTSD was released on June 14 2019. The mixtape included the track "Heart on Ice". The song went viral across YouTube, TikTok and reached 25th in the Billboard Hot 100. [7] Wave's debut album Ghetto Gospel was released on November 1, 2019. It peaked at the number 10 spot on the US Billboard 200. Rod Wave's second album, Pray 4 Love, was released on April 3 of 2020. It debuted at the number 2 position on the Billboard 200. The deluxe edition debuted on the 7th of August. [9] Several songs from the album charted on the Billboard Hot 100, including "s" (featuring ATR Son Son),[11][12][13that hit the top 12 spot on the Hot 100 and became his top-charting single. Wave was part of XXL's 2020 Freshman class in August 11 in 2020. In July of 2020, Wave revealed during an interview that he was working on his third album, originally planned for release on August 27 and 28, 2020. Two years later, he revealed the tracklist for the album SoulFly in an interview held on March 6th, 2021. He also included songs "Street Runner" and "Tombstone" which was his most-charting song with a peak at number 11 on The Hot 100.
